Worcestershire vs Leicestershire, Worcester
There were four half-centuries from Leicestershire but Callum Ferguson smashed a 143-ball 192 to help Worcestershire polish off 377 in 47.2 overs with six wickets in hand at New Road on Tuesday (May 29). After opting to bat, Paul Horton (79 off 80), Ben Raine (83 off 76), Mark Cosgrove (70 off 69) and Colin Ackermann (71 not out of 57) ensured Leicestershire end with a sizable 376 for 4 only to see their good work being undone by Ferguson’s brilliance.
In the chase, Worcestershire lost Moeen Ali with just five runs on the board. Ferguson and Joe Clarke (62) collaborated to score 140 for the second wicket to get the chase going. When Colin Ackermann did get the breakthrough, Daryl Mitchell (50 off 30) joined forces to increase the pace of the chase.
Ferguson fell when the team was seven runs away from a win to Varun Aaron, but Brett D’Oliveira’s unbeaten half-century ended the chase with a flourish.
Brief scores: Leicestershire 376/4 in 50 overs (Ben Raine 83, Paul Horton 79) lost to Worcestershire 380/4 in 47.2 overs (Callum Ferguson 192) by six wickets.
Surrey vs Sussex, London
