Critchley six-fer seals Derbyshire's second win

Derbyshire vs Northamptonshire, Chesterfield

A six-fer from batting all-rounder Matthew Critchley helped Derbyshire beat Northants by 39 runs on the final day in their division two match at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield. Resuming at 174/3, still needing 140 to win, Critchley trapped the South African Richard Levi in front to spark a collapse which saw the visitors lose their last 7 wickets for 87 runs.

Skipper Wakely who top scored with 68 along with opener Luke Procter was the important wicket and once he was gone, the end was nigh. Critchley finished the game with a ten-fer – a deserved haul.

This was just the second win of the season for Derbyshire and it helped them leapfrog their opponents on the points table. However, Derbyshire are 6th on the table which has 10 teams.

Brief scores: Derbyshire 260 (Gary Wilson 66; Ben Sanderson 5-53) and 342 (Wayne Madsen 116; Seekkuge Prasanna 4-104) beat Northamptonshire 289 (Alex Wakely 106; Tony Palladino 4-33) and 274 (Luke Procter 68 Alex Wakely 68; Matthew Critchley 6-106) by 39 runs.
