Derbyshire have signed Scottish batsman Calum MacLeod and Scotland’s Head Coach Grant Bradburn for this season’s Vitality T20 Blast as the county further develops its partnership with Cricket Scotland.
MacLeod, who has previously played county cricket for Warwickshire and Yorkshire, will join his fellow Scottish international Safyaan Sharif on Derbyshire’s books for the T20 Blast as part of a partnership between the county and Cricket Scotland. MacLeod scored a blistering 140 off 94 balls against England on Sunday (June 10) as Scotland registered a famous victory over their neighbours in Edinburgh.
Bradburn, who played for New Zealand and has been coaching Scotland since 2014, will also join the county’s coaching team for the T20 Blast in order to gain experience of the county system. He will work alongside John Wright, Derbyshire’s specialist T20 coach and Dominic Cork, the bowling coach.
“We’re delighted to be working with Cricket Scotland and to have Calum, Safyaan and Grant on board for our Vitality Blast campaign,” Kim Barnett, Derbyshire’s Cricket Adviser, said. “Calum is a powerful striker and only yesterday showed what he can do on the big stage. He offers further depth to our squad, alongside Safyaan, for what is a busy month of cricket.
“It’s an exciting partnership between Cricket Scotland and Derbyshire. Calum and Safyaan are both highly-talented cricketers and will add depth and international experience to the Derbyshire squad,” Bradburn added. “I am looking forward to working alongside John Wright and the other coaches and contributing to wins for the Club which has ambitions of silverware this season.”
