There was great news for Slovenia fans on Wednesday when Luka Doncic took to social media and expressed his desire to play for his country in the upcoming third window of the Qualifiers for China 2019.
In a tweet posted by the Slovenian Basketball Federation, the 19-year-old phenom addressed the reigning European champions’ legion of fans.

In the video, Doncic is heard saying:
“HELLO FANS, IN THREE WEEKS WE WILL PLAY AGAINST SPAIN AND MONTENEGRO. I WOULD LOVE TO WEAR THE SLOVENIAN JERSEY AGAIN IF I CAN AND I HOPE TO BE THERE. I HOPE STOZICE ARENA WILL BE FULL AND THE FANS WILL SUPPORT US LIKE THEY DID IN ISTANBUL (IN THE FINAL ROUND OF FIBA EUROBASKET 2017). THANK YOU” – Doncic
The 6ft 7in (2.00m) guard was a sensation at FIBA EuroBasket 2017, helping fire Slovenia to their first-ever major trophy. In addition to winning the title, he was named to the All-Star Five after averaging 14.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
Doncic is expected to be among the top picks in the upcoming 2018 NBA Draft.
