Killie to appeal Bachmann red card

Kilmarnock will appeal the red card shown to Daniel Bachmann against Rangers on Wednesday night.

The Austrian goalkeeper was dismissed 25 minutes into the William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round replay, after an off-the-ball clash with Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

Kamara went down claiming he had been elbowed in the face but Killie boss Steve Clarke later branded referee Alan Muir’s decision a “joke”.

Rangers already led 1-0 when Bachmann was dismissed and went on to win 5-0, with Alfredo Morelos scoring four.

Clarke felt his side should have been awarded an early penalty and said after the match: “The officials decided the game. It’s embarrassing.

“If the penalty had been given in the first two minutes, it would have been different.

“And the red card is a joke. The goalie just lifted his arms.

“Every goalie does it every week. It’s embarrassing. If that’s the standards, we might as well go home.

“Why speak? It’s every week.”
