14:20 PM IST: Good news coming in from Pallekele – rain has stopped but unfortunately, there’s a lot of water that’s gathered on the surface of covers. Quite a lot of work to be done by the groundsmen.
The inevitable has happened. Toss has been delayed due to rain.
Just a random search on Google would tell you that the percentage of precipitation is really high in Pallekele at the moment, and unfortunately, it shows no reduction over the next few hours. Gosh, Sri Lanka and rains.
Bad news to begin

It is time for the penultimate game of the five-match ODI series to kick off. Well, South Africa have turned up for every game but alas, the hosts haven’t quite made their presence felt. As a result, the series is lost already and all the remains to be played for is pride and a desperate attempt to avoid a whitewash. The hosts changed routes in the third ODI by bowling first, but ended up conceding South Africa’s highest ODI total in Sri Lanka. The bowling has been meek throughout and bar Dhananjaya de Silva, none looked a part in the batting lineup too. While one team has had its foot firmly on the accelerator, Sri Lanka have been driving with their handbrakes pulled. Can there be a reversal of fate? We shall find soon…
