Toss & Teams
Bangladesh opt to bowl at the Providence Stadium, Guyana. The big news is that Andre Russell sits out — reported due to an injury — and so Keemo Paul gets a game.
Bangladesh go in with an unchanged side. Why change the burner when the pot is boiling, eh.
Now this isn’t Test cricket that we’ll just go on and on about how Windies, and their rise, matters more than it should. This is ODI cricket, where this rising Bangladesh side are, so to say, the ‘Tigers’, an epithet our Bangladesh correspondent Atif Azam nauseously — endearingly — uses to refer to the Mashrafe Mortaza-led side. And there was plenty in evidence in the first ODI, where the Bulwarks rose in a convincing win.
If it was spin on that day, it’ll be spin again today in Guyana, which has some rain in store. For those in the Indian subcontinent, get your double cappuccino shots ready. People in US, it might be a good day to be in the country; thank God for time zones.
Anyway, here is the preview for the 2nd ODI between Windies and Bangladesh in Guyana, which the hosts must win to keep the three-match series alive. Have a read as we wait for the toss. And don’t forget to send in your #CBhaveyoursay to get featured on the commentary page (of course you have the attention span for two windows on your browser).
