Tiger Woods opened Friday in danger of missing the cut for the PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, but after hitting the ball well on the front 9, he started to get some breathing room. Then play was suspended and the day got weird.
Woods was 3 under through seven holes before a thunderstorm came in and forced golfers off the course. Play would never resume Friday and players would have to wait until Saturday morning to finish up their rounds.
For the 14-time major champion he picked up where he left off hitting the ball pretty well. He finished out the front nine with a birdie at 8 and a par at 9 to finish up with a 4-under 31.

Also in Woods’ group, Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy are flirting with the line as well as neither man has played particularly well.
Thomas shot a 34 on his front 9. He is just one shot clear of the cutline at 1 under for the tournament.
As for McIlory, he has yet to put it all together as he sits one shot clear at 1 under after a front-9 34.
