Sam Curran, the Surrey left-arm seamer, has been drafted into the England squad for the upcoming Leeds Test as cover for Ben Stokes, who is suffering from a tight left hamstring.
Stokes picked up the injury while fielding during a training session on Wednesday (May 30) and he did not bowl. England will assess the injury on Thursday morning.
Curran, earlier, was included in the ICC World XI squad for the game against Windies on Thursday. However, he will no longer be available for that game as he is set to arrive in Leeds tonight and will train at Headingley tomorrow.
The 19-year-old has been impressive in the ongoing County season and is the leading wicket-taker for his side. he has picked up 18 wickets in four games at an average of 19.55, including a match-winning haul of 10 for 101 against Yorkshire at The Oval in his previous first-class appearance.
